New York: Lead Ammunition Ban Another Swipe at New York Gun Owners and Sportsmen

The Assembly Codes Committee passed a bill last week that bans hunting with lead ammunition on public lands.  Make no mistake, A.703 by Assemblywoman Deborah Glickis a direct attack from animal extremists bent on destroying our hunting heritage.  This Greenwich Village lawmaker doesn't have a lot of hunting or wildlife issues in her Manhattan District yet she continues to introduce legislation to undermine professional wildlife management and huntingEven hunting dog field trials are targeted with this legislation!  Please contact your Assembly Members and urge them to vote “NO” on A.703.

Alternatives to lead ammunition are cost prohibitive for hunters in New York.  But this is by design.  Animal extremists want to drive up the cost of hunting to reduce participation and thereby reduce the number of gun owners.  Hunters remain the financial backbone of conservation efforts throughout the state, but animal extremists want hunting out of the picture and hunters off the landscape.  The simple truth is that there is no credible evidence that lead ammunition has a negative impact on wildlife species, but the goal of the extremists is to remove hunting, not promote wildlife.

This legislation has been placed on the Assembly calendar and could be called for a vote on the Assembly floor at any time.  Please contact your Assembly member and respectfully request a NO vote on A.703.
